New Division in 2012!
The WHJA is introducing a new Division in 2012 - GROUND RAIL HUNTERS This division is open to riders in their first year of showing. Riders may not cross enter into any other classes. "Over Fences" classes will be conducted as 'once around the outside' courses and can be ridden at either the trot or canter. Formal attire is not required for these classes. Ribbons will be awarded for First through Eight Place. This division will not accumulate points and will not be included at the Year End Awards Banquet. Ground Rail Hunters is a great opportunity for riders to experience the show ring in a low-key, low-pressure and fun class!

2012 WHJA Changes
Supporting More Shows! The WHJA Board is pleased to announce that member trainers have initiated a new tier of available competitions for Wisconsin. Guided by input from the member trainers who met with the Board at the end of 2010, the Board has drafted the initial outline for this new tier of shows. Details of this new tier, as detailed in the 2011 Rule Book: Full (single) points will be awarded to approved Local Member competitions which are not USEF recognized but follow the WHJA Rulebook, offer all divisions recognized by the WHJA on the Local Member circuit and employ judges with at least an “r” license in either Hunters or Jumpers. Approved Classics will only be awarded points if six (6) horses complete the Classic. This applies to both Hunter and Jumper Classics. In no case will double points be awarded for any classes at a non-USEF recognized Local Member competition. Such shows hosted at a private facility must be able to offer a minimum of 25 stalls to “outside” competitors. Please note that this is a pilot program and subject to change based upon trainer and competitor input. The WHJA Board has structured this new tier based upon our best understanding of the expressed desires of the trainers in attendance at the trainer meeting of 2010. Continued member trainer feedback and participation are vital to the growth and maintenance of both this new tier of competition and the Local Member circuit as a whole.

WHJA Rule Book Available On-Line
The WHJA Rule Book is available on-line. Click on WHJA Bylaws & Rules or find it in the Forms/Documents link. Printable versions are available in both locations. IMPORTANT NOTE: The following Rule Book change is effective as of 2012 and should be inserted into any printed version of the 2011 Rule Book. (As a cost savings, the WHJA is not distributing printed copies of the 2012 Rule Book since the following information is the only change.) Save these dates! Summer Show: June 8-10, 2012 Fall Show: August 31 - September 2, 2012 The Local Member show season in Wisconsin will be here before you know it! Your WHJA Board is hard at work putting together all the pieces of the puzzle that equals the WHJA Summer and Fall Hunter/Jumper Shows. USHJA AFFILIATE EQUITATION AWARDS PROGRAM
USHJA Affiliate Equitation Awards Program USHJA has implemented an Equitation Awards program through its Affiliate Organizations Medal Classes primarily offered at local and unrecognized horse shows. The goal of this program is to increase the USHJA membership and outreach in the equestrian community, by further informing and educating individuals who partake in equestrian sports at the unrecognized and local horse show level and demonstrating that USHJA has something to offer them through its many programs, and shared involvement with the horse. Are you a High School Equestrian? Read more here...
Many high school equestrian athletes don't get the credit or acknowledgment they deserve for the time, hard work, and accomplishments achieved through riding. The USEF has created a program to recognize young equestrians' accomplishments consistent with other high school varsity programs. You can “letter” in riding, thanks to USEF! YOU can participate in this program if you are a high school student. You don't need anything from your school to participate, but you do need to enroll in the program! (and be a USEF member). Important note: this program is meant to run from June 1 – May 31 each year. That means participants will be able to count any hours and competitions from June 1 through May 31, so anything you did last summer and fall will count as long as you turn in your log on time!
